I'm not a firefighter nor do i know how it works but, the way I read it is that Salisbury station 1 was on scene.Pittsville and Fruitland were requested to standby at the station in case something else happened while they were at Perdue. I'm sure all fire departments had some equipment and staff in the procession but it seems like they were working together to cover the needs of the surrounding areas.

From the profile pic this looks like it was taken off of Wicomico First Response which is run by a criminal himself Mark Figgs- yeah the guy running for mayor in Salisbury. Do not trust this site. They can’t spell to save their life and they post things that are so off the wall! They are not a trusted source of info. Stick to Joes site please. If you don’t believe me look up Mark Figgs in case search in MD & check out his FB page Mark Figgs for Mayor if you need a good laugh!!!

It's called mutual aid response (large businesses usually pre-determined) ....DUH! Pittsville and Fruitland may have had something occurring within their respective districts that kept them from being called. Looks like Culver would have you up to speed on how this works.....to much time spent on idiots at Stalag 13, home of the flunkies! What's the problem anyway?? Fire was covered!

Because Jake Day, Rick Hoppes, John Tull and Darrin Scott ran most all of the volunteers away.

Now I'm hearing that Jake Day is going to promote John Tull to Fire Chief to carry on that legacy of hate that he helped infect the Salisbury Fire Department with.

Salisbury has two 75ft. ladder trucks and a 105 foot Tower truck and there is no need to call Pittsville, Delmar or Fruitland for any calls. There was a time, not to long ago, that a single volunteer station in Salisbury could handle all fires without calling the other 2 stations for help.

That changed when Steve Brezler became the fire chief and started running every good volunteer away including Norman Conway. Guess who got promoted under that Legacy? Rick Hoppes, John Tull, Brian Records and several others. It's like a cancer and now they continue to spread.

It's time to hire a decent chief and one from outside the department.

Those "idiots" from Station 1, Inc. are better firefighters than you will ever be Bryan, or is it Rick?

Why the Sheriff's Office motor units in this pic?

It's standard operating procedure! Salisbury is already on scene of a potentially large call (Perdue) so you ask for help from the 2 closest stations to standby in case a new call comes in (for a different fire accident) so they are already in the city, versus having to come from 7-10 miles away. (My guess is Delmar was already tied up on it's own calls is why Pittsville)

The viewer is an idiot!

Really why does it matter that deputy deserves a proper escort. And who r u to take that from him. Does it matter why parsonsburg and Salisbury didn't
Cover. I'm sure u would have been protected if u needs fire and EMS to ur residence.
Amy from Salisbury.

Actually they are not all bad they are really good chiefs they know what they are doing and how to do it if you actually knew the inside of the story you would understand but no you are a civilian that gets your head filled with all this bullshit and you believe it all just like everybody else but I bet you if something were to happen and they saved you good lord you would appreciate them a lot more because they know what they are doing they are awesome people I have been around them my whole life I know them from outside of the firehouse and inside the firehouse and no matter where they are they still are worried about their city and what is going to happen because they care and because they are good people.

Hello Bootsy Gladwell, thank you for responding in your normal condescending way. All hail the midget!!!

Deserves a proper escort? Seriously? It was NOT a line of duty death. I guess it will be made into a line of duty death and the taxpayers will foot the bill forever. That was my first thought when I read the sheriff’s comment that said “less than 24 hours after getting off work...”. It is irrelevant how long he was off work. The fact is, he was OFF DUTY. It is a sad occurrence but one that happens thousands of times a day all over the county. He was a great person and a wonderful Deputy. I’ll be the first to admit it. But, he was off duty. This is not a line of duty death.

What an asshat you are, the man dedicated himself to your safety if you lived in wicomico county. Oh wait I assume you live in the United States so when he served as a Marine he also protected you. As a citizen of both I certainly think he deserved an escort home.

Have you ever served in any form of public service. Have you ever loss a comrade that had your 6 and your life depended on it. This is not just a form of respect but a healing process for those around him. You tell his children his fellow officers his soccer team that we shouldn't spend wastefully like this let me know how that works out for you. More worried about the cost rather than compassion and respect smfh

I will say this as a first responders no matter off duty or on duty that is a honor that we have earned yet you say this. We put our life on the line to make sure every one is ok

Everybody who dies is important or a hero to SOMEONE. Remember that. He did not die ON DUTY. If the sheriff’s department and fire department aren’t willing to do an escort for every single person that dies, they shouldn’t do it in this case. If it were a line of duty death, that is understood. However, spending tax payers money to escort their friend and coworker is inappropriate unless they are willing to do it for everyone. My friend and coworker is just as important to me as he was to them. He wouldn’t get an escort. You can’t pick and choose who to honor when you are using publicly funded equipment and manpower. As nice as it may seem, it’s inappropriate.

I heard Deputy Lee Stevens is putting his name in the hat for Fire Chief.

Wow no matter what it's still in honor who ever you may be I am a first responder oh wait a minute I pay taxes so continue to say what you got to say cuz no matter what you don't see the whole truth of behind it of being an honor therefore you'll never get it and just go ahead and keep yourself off these with your ridiculous comments I'm proud of who I am and if you can understand that then you don't need to understand nothing
