McDonald’s Suggests Putting Your Phone In A Locker Rather Than Talking Through Meal

Walk into just about any restaurant — it doesn’t matter the price or quality of food — and you’ll see many diners constantly fidgeting with their phones, if not ignoring their table mates altogether while they tap away on their screens. McDonald’s may be the last place on Earth you’d expect to care about this decrease in human interaction, but some Golden Arches franchises are trying to get customers talking to each other again.

Good idea for families. It bothers me to see families with small children being ignored while mom or parents are on phones rather than interacting with their children.

My 60-70 age group is guilty as well. Not just young people any more.

Good. I turn off the ringer and buzzer when I sit down to a meal. The only time it comes out is to Google some answer to a technical or historical question that comes up in conversation, sometimes accompanied by a small wager.

All is WRONG in the world when McDonald's give out advice!

McDonald's may be giving this advice under the guise of being family friendly, but it's been proven that those using cell phones during restaurant meals tend to linger longer at their tables than if they were just there eating and conversing with a tablemate. The credo for McDonald's and most restaurants, especially chain places, is "Feed 'Em And Move 'Em Out The Door".

2:16 PM - that's why they play (usually too loudly) that gawdawful peppy, everybody sounds alike pop music in the dining rooms.

Nice of McDonald's to suggest something that Chick-fil-a has been doing for over a year.
